Carl joins João Pimenta Gomes from Portugal in a evening of synthesizer and samplers. Gomes is a visual artist and musician who lives and works in Lisbon. His work explores the relationships between space and the body through the manipulation of modular synthesisers, images, videos and objects. This will be be his first time performing in Tokyo. Also on the evening wil be Carl presenting some brand new work, created for a recent multi-city tour in Australia.

Carl helps celebrate the Summer Solstice with a performance at PRHYTHM, the Pyramid Music Festival 2024. The event takes place inside the Murou Art-Forest (near Pyramid Island), where music and the forest’s art installations can be enjoyed together on this special day.

A park entrance fee is required separately from the participation fee.
410 yen for adults (200 yen for high school students, free for junior high school students and younger) when entering the park.

PRHYTHM reception is located inside the park (near Pyramid Island).

This will be the first of Carl’s several appearances during the Kanazawa International Experimental Music Festival 2024 (directed by Adachi Tomomi)..In this concert, Carl will be paired with ASUNA for a first time improvisational collaboration.The evening will also feature a performance by Liz Allbee and Improvisation Music Workshop participants,
Liz Allbee trumpet electronics solo, and the improvisational pairings of Kinoshita Masamichi+Shimada Hideaki, and Ricardo Arias+Adachi Tomomi. The festival runs from March 8-10 and includes workshops as well as concerts. It spans improvised music, contemporary classical and sound art, and seeks to connect the internationalism of the experimental music community and localism.

Carl & Kazuhisa Uchihashi (guiitar and daxophone) perform two sets at RITTOR BASE, a space equipped with a 3D sound system with 8 channels of speakers arranged in a cube, 4 on the ceiling and 4 on the floor.

In addition, the distribution will be performed after converting the 3D sound of the venue into binaural, so you can simulate the sound of the venue by listening with headphones.
